The Constructive Institute is an independent organisation that lies at the heart of the constructive journalism movement. Its mission is to combat trivialisation and degradation of journalism by emphasising reporting that is more accurate, balanced and solutions-focussed.
The institute helps journalists and news organisations to apply constructive reporting in their daily work through providing access to an inspiring best practices portal, a world-class fellowship programme, relevant training curricula, and initiating rigorous independent academic research.
We work closely with Aarhus University, a young and modern university that has grown to become a leading public research university with international reach. Aarhus University consistently ranks among the first 100 world’s top universities.
See here for the annual report of the year 2017/2018.
The institute has been funded by a number of foundations and private corporations, including the Tryg Foundation, Aarhus Stiftstidendes Fond, Den Fynske Bladfond, Bestseller, and the Helsingin Sanomat Foundation.
To ensure the independence of the institute, it has been established as a foundation with a board and advisory board composed of journalists, media profession als, experienced former politicians, and academics. The board oversees the strategic development of the institute, approves the appointments of senior staff, and ensures the effective use of financial resources.
