Constructive Institute heads workshops for journalists and editors in Croatia
April 9, 2026
Around 40 journalists and editors from Croatian media are participating on Wednesday and Thursday, April 8th and 9th, in three workshops in constructive journalism in the Croatian capital, Zagreb.
The Croatian media organization Media Regulatory Authority, with support from the EU, has organized the three workshops. From the Constructive Institute, project manager Jesper Himmelstrup is leading the radio workshop, former fellow and journalist at TV2 Østjylland, Thomas Gam Nielsen, is leading the TV workshop, and the head of the fellowship programme, Orla Borg, is leading the workshop for print and online media.
The Vice President of the Media Council, Robert Tomljenovic, has invited Constructive Institute to Croatia to train Croatian journalists and editors in constructive journalism and he is excited for the workshops.
“In today’s world, where social media algorithms and artificial intelligence increasingly shape what we know and how we are informed and where intolerance, polarization and disinformation continue to grow it has become essentialto discuss the new and more meaningful role of journalism and the media,” he says and continues:
“Through its highly significant work, the Constructive Institute provides a clear example of how this can be achieved. That is why we invited them to Croatia: to share their knowledge and ideas with Croatian media professionals and to inspire us all to believe that positive change in journalistic practice is possible. And to quote or perhaps paraphrase Humphrey Bogart, I hope this is not just a one-time event, but the beginning of a beautiful friendship,” says Robert Tomljenovic.
