The course is aimed at Folk High School students following a journalism course or journalism studies in general while the platform is designed to support the teacher every step of the course complete with a teachers manual and toolkit.

What to Learn

This course is an introduction to constructive journalism. Firstly, outlining why it is important and secondly what is it. Structured around our three pillar theory the lessons offer students a deep dive into the genre and how to work with constructive journalism, from ideation to completed story.

Sune Gudmundsson and Peter Damgaard are the masterminds behind this training toolbox.

Course Description

Lesson 1: Introduction

Why is Constructive Journalism important?

This lesson is about the role that journalists and the media play in democracy, as well as whether they always take on the task of giving a true picture of the world.

Lesson 2: Pillar 1

How to do Constructive Journalism: Pillar 1 – Focus on Solutions

This lesson is about how to do solution-oriented journalism in practice.

Lesson 3: Pillar 2

How to do Constructive Journalism: Pillar 2 – Cover Nuances

This lesson is about how to put the nuances into practice in your journalism

Lesson 4: Pillar 3

How to do Constructive Journalism: Pillar 3 – Promote Democratic Conversation

This lesson is about how to create conversations in society in practice and engage citizens in ways with formats and events that are different from classic journalism.
